Gordon Family Training (GFT): possibilities, insights, experiences, information – free of charge and without obligation!

Discover the benefits of the Gordon Family Training EASY programme!

The Gordon Family Training is a communication training course (https://www.gordontraining.at/).

This offer is open to anyone to whose situation is similar of at least one of the following:

  • You’d like to find out more about the Gordon Family Training programme.
  • You have children of your own aged between 0 and 18, or you do not have children of your own but work with children and young people in general, and you would like to learn more about effective communication with these in any situation.
  • You just got limited time and you’d like to explore in a relaxed, informal setting ways of communicating with children and young people, whether they’re your own children or those of other parents.
  • You are interested in gaining a better understanding of seemingly complex situations of relationships involving children and young people, and in learning more about what makes communication with them successful or unsuccessful.
  • You’d like to hear personal stories and insights about specific approaches and methods that could help make certain situations with children and young people work better and more easily.
  • You are interested in finding out more about content and terms and conditions of a 30-hour Gordon Family Training course, as well as other services.
  • You are interested in background information on issues and situations such as…
    • How can I manage to get on better with my own or other people’s children in certain situations, with less effort and in a calmer way?
    • Why doesn’t the child behave in a certain way, even though I’ve brought it up so many times?
    • When I’m with my child, I often get upset and very annoyed because they behave in a certain way. How is it possible to avoid this?
    • The child has a problem and I keep telling them what to do, but nothing changes. They won’t accept any solutions, but just carry on complaining. I feel really exhausted by it all.
    • Sometimes a child does something that I find to be a problem. When I address it, the child doesn’t behave differently; instead, there is an increase in arguments and even more trouble.
    • The child is doing things quite differently than I would.
    • My child is avoiding contact with me or doesn’t want to talk to me at all.
    • I’ve got a problem ‘because of the child’.
    • My needs often get left behind in favour of the child’s.
    • conflicts
    • and others...

Go for a walk somewhere you’re familiar with (or stay indoors), even with people you know! For 30 minutes, an hour… you decide for how long – no commitment and free of charge! Bookings available all year round! Events Monday to Saturday!

What is provided and how, and what is required by you?

All you need is some interest in at least one of the points listed above and a bit of motivation! You are welcome to enquire or book a very open, relaxed information session, which is done either as a walk or, if preferred, indoors (see the last point at the end of the text) with a miminum of 3 participants. This offer is available all year round, with events taking place from Monday to Saturday! We’ll decide on the venue and time together. You’ll need to organise a group of 3 or more people. The maximum number of participants for the walk is 12. If more than 12 people are interested, an event taking place at a specified location can be booked instead of the walk. Just get in touch – if you like to find more details: click here!

We'll meet at the time and place agreed upon and go for a walk along a route we'll decide on before we set off (or we'll stay indoors). I, a Gordon Family Trainer, will explain which behaviours, and in what form, can be used in various situations to help build positive, successful and ultimately bonding relationships with children or young people. I’ll do this by sharing personal stories, explanations and similar examples to discuss the possibilities, benefits, approaches and methods of Gordon Family Training.

The schedule for the event is kept flexible. I’ll provide a broad overview of the issues or focus on specific topics, depending on which ones the participants raise. The aim is to have a conversation where I share my own experiences and provide information, whilst also encouraging discussion, questions and participants to share their own experiences!

You can enquire and book these services by calling 0676 334 63 68, by emailing willkommen@wanderbar-markus.at or by sending a message via the contact form sheet ! If you’re in Linz (Upper Austria) or within a 40 km radius, this service is free of charge and there aren't any obligations! Upon agreement, travel to locations outside this radius is also possible. In this case, i ask for a VOLUNTARY contribution from participants to cover travel costs!

How long does the walk or the indoor event last?

I’m thinking about an hour, although this will depend on various factors (subjects brought up by participants, questions, level of interest, etc.). Depending on your time available, it could be shorter or longer, but given the group size and the topics that come up, it will be a maximum of two hours. You decide how long you’d like to stay.

What is the idea with this offer? How are you going to benefit from it?

The objective of this programme is to provide an insight of the potential of the Gordon Family Training and to offer some key information! This enables participants to get a good sense of the benefits of communication based on Thomas Gordon’s Gordon Family Training. These benefits are significant and wide-ranging, and become increasingly beneficial as communication in line with the guidelines of this training becomes more frequent and appropriate. The result of learning and applying communication ‘in your own words’ in accordance with the guidelines of this training generally means improved communication and better relationships, with the main factor is called your own responsibility .

This programme can provide motivation and inspire you to engage more deeply and intensively with the Gordon Family Training (or with communication and communication training in general). Further (payment-based) options include, for example, a 30-hour Gordon Family Training course and practice sessions.

What is NOT provided?

The benefits for you are described in the previous paragraph. Therefore, NO solutions are offered for existing relationship problems you describe. That is not the aim of this programme, nor is it the aim of a 30-hour Gordon Family Training course. Why? The approach to successful, bonding communication that lasts is based on your own responsibility. A lasting, sustainable improvement in communication within relationships is possible through taking personal responsibility (see the aim of this programme). Any solutions offered would be neither accurate, nor lasting, nor sustainable.

Why providing a communication training?

I consider effective communication – that is, communication which is positive, offers opportunities, encourages personal responsibility and, furthermore, brings people together and leads to better relationships – to be very important and valuable. Any high-quality communication training programme focusing on successful relationships will be able to achieve this. I am trainer for the Gordon Family Training programme, so I offer this training and information about it, and I consider it highly suitable. Of course, it is entirely up to each individual to decide, if necessary, whether to opt for this or another communication training programme. The Gordon Family Training programme deals with communication between adults and children or young people. However, the basic principles also apply to communication between adults (in work, etc.).

My view is that everyone should become familiar with and learn to communicate in the way described from a young age, because everyone needs to communicate right up until the end of life. So it makes sense to start early. However, in my opinion it never is too late to do so.

Why does the event take the form of a walk? What do we do if the weather’s bad? Generally speaking, I’d prefer to sit down and listen to the whole thing whilst chatting to each other, regardless of the weather.

I am a Gordon Family Training trainer and would like as many people as possible to learn about this form of communication because – when used correctly – it works. I am also a hiking guide and enjoy being outdoors in nature. That’s why I’m combining these two disciplines and offering this user-friendly service. This allows small groups (from 3 people) to learn valuable information whilst getting some exercise in fresh air, all with minimal time commitment, and to decide whether it’s worth exploring this communication training further. Other options available for a fee include a course (30 hours), workshops, practice sessions and more.

If the weather conditions might be poor, we can agree whether to go for a walk anyway or stay indoors. The session can, of course, also take place in private spaces. If you’d rather not go for a walk at all, we’ll simply stay indoors! In any case, you’ll need to organise and pay for a suitable venue that accommodates the number of participants yourself!
