Welt-Raum-Weg: 6-day tour

HELLO AND A WARM WELCOME TO THE GROSSER WELT-RAUM-WEG!

This is the tour description for the 6-day tour. You can find out more and book this tour here (see booking form at the bottom of the tour description)!

This tour is also available as a 5-day tour from Monday 21 to Friday 25 July 2025. If you would like to find out more and book that tour, click here!

During this 6-day tour from Bad Ischl through the Totes Gebirge mountain range to Hinterstoder, your are welcome to listen to the audio impulses created by artist Christoph Viscorsum and his team concerning the Großer Welt-Raum-Weg. It is possible to reflect and discuss your ideas with others, however, listening to the audio impulses and sharing ideas is voluntary. Likewise voluntary is the participation in further offers by hiking guide Markus Leonhartsberger, which derive from reflection, awareness and imparting knowledge about nature.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE 6-DAY TOUR: Details and maybe alternative routes will be provided on site!

Monday, 4 August 2025:

Meeting point in the centre of Bad Ischl in front of the Trinkhalle at 9:30 am. Brief introduction and start of the tour incl. audio impulses. Hike to the Rettenbachalm with the option of a meal. Ascent to the Ischler Hütte and stay overnight.

Tuesday, 5 August 2025:

From the Ischler Hütte to the Ebenseer Hochkogelhaus! It's a short route and it starts before sunrise! On this day there is enough time for leisure, alternative activities and daydreaming.

Wednesday, 6 August 2025:

From Ebenseer Hochkogelhaus via Wildensee to Albert-Appel-Haus, which is located in the centre of the Totes Gebirge mountain range.

Thursday, 7 August 2025:

Albert-Appel-Haus - Elmsee - Pühringerhütte! We move eastwards in the large central area.

Friday, 8 August 2025:

Pühringerhütte - Prielschutzhaus! Arriving at the Prielschutzhaus, we have already walked a little way down from the high area of the Totes Gebirge and have come very close to our tour destination in Hinterstoder. The highest and most impressive peaks of the Totes Gebirge, Großer Priel and Spitzmauer, are in close vicinity.

Saturday, 9 August 2025:

Our last stage takes us down the valley to Hinterstoder. Once there, our tour is over. At the end of the tour, a last session which covers reflection and sharing is offered. Farewell and individual journey home or joint return journey to Bad Ischl.

NOTE:

Fitness for walking for several hours over several days with luggage and a good level of footedness required! Walking pace will often be moderate and due to the audio impulses and breaks there will be several places to rest. On the first day there are a few metres of ascent to the Ischler Hütte and on the following days in the Totes Gebirge mountain range there are also ascents.

Required equipment:

During the tour, we are mostly in the alpine region between 1500 and 2000 metres above sea level. At these altitudes it is usually a little cooler, especially in the evening and morning. In summer, strong sunshine is to be expected, which requires sun protection. You should also make sure you have enough to drink during the day's stages, preferably water. As you will be walking for several hours each day and containers can usually only be refilled in huts, you should carry at least 1.5 litres of liquid, preferably 2 litres. Depending on your individual needs, you should also carry something to eat, as it can take several hours to reach the next hut. Please remember that all items must be carried during the day (weight)!

  • Shoes and clothing must be adequate according to the weather. We will hike at almost any weather (except thunderstorms or heavy rainfall), so make sure that your jacket and shoes are at least water-repellent.
  • Sun protection ( headwear, sunglasses, sun cream...)
  • Snack and drink according to individual needs (at least 1.5, preferably 2 litres per day!
  • Hut sleeping bag! This must be used in huts!
  • Smartphone or audio player because of audio files, headphones. Note: These are required before the ascent to the Totes Gebirge mountain range, so download them,as mobile phone signal coverage is hardly/not possible in the mountains.
  • Other items such as hygiene products, blister plasters, rescue blanket (gold-silver), hiking poles, etc., but pay attention to the total weight of all your luggage! Note for all those who usually hike with less luggage: Pack everything in your rucksack, carry it on your shoulder and adjust it so that the weight can be carried more easily and then hike for at least some time, optimising it if necessary.

The 6-day tour of the Großer Welt-Raum-Weg costs 490 euros per person.
