The destination of the hike is the South Bohemian town of Cesky Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Buildings date from different eras (Renaissance, Baroque, etc.) and are in a very good condition. The castle with its huge gardens, the monastery, the town church, other gardens, important buildings and sites paint a unique picture, which is complemented by the picturesque Vltava River.
Historically, the Rosenberg family is closely linked to the town. This is demonstrated by the annual festival of the five-petalled rose. During this three-day festival, which is attended by thousands of people from all over the world, the town has changed its look and many people in historical costumes perform parades, theatre, juggling and many other attractions. In 2025, the festival will take place from 20-22 June! Information about the 2025 festival!
We will hike from Bad Leonfelden across the border, pass Vyssi Brod and the equally charming village of Rozmberk, where we will spend the night. The next day we walk partly along or near the Vltava river to Krumlov. The tour is timed so that the group arrives in Krumlov on the evening of the first day for the medieval festival and the tour ends. For those who do not start their journey home immediately, there is the option of exploring the town together and enjoying the festival at their leisure.
The journey to the meeting point in Bad Leonfelden and the departure from Cesky Krumlov is possible by public transport! In the Czech Republic you can usually pay in euros. In Vyssi Brod, Rozmberk and of course also in Krumlov you can withdraw Czech crowns from ATMs. Please choose and book your accommodation in Rozmberk in advance according to your own requirements. For those who want to take more luggage with them but only want to carry a daypack, there is the possibility of transporting the extra luggage to Rozmberk and Krumlov.
