Rappottenstein - Aubergwarte

Starting from the medieval Rappottenstein Castle (guided tours available!), we will experience atmospheric trails and the Kamp River, as well as the forests of the Waldviertel region. On the way to the Aubergwarte, we will then enjoy the agricultural scenery with poppy fields in full bloom. At the end of the hike, we will enjoy the view from the lookout tower over the vast expanses of the Waldviertel region.

 

Programme:

  • Meeting point: at the car park in front of the largest poppy painting in Armschlag at 8:10 am.
  • 8:20 am journey from Armschlag by bus to Rappottenstein Castle.
  • For all those who have booked the castle tour, the tour starts at 9 am. Duration: approx. 50 minutes. For all those who have not booked the castle tour, a short guided walk around the castle or a stop at the castle tavern is possible.
  • 10 am: Hike from the castle, along the Kamp and through the Waldviertel cultivated landscape to the Aubergwarte. Interesting information about the region, poppies and poppy cultivation is provided during the hike. Route: asphalted roads as well as field, forest and meadow paths.
  • Ascent to the Aubergwarte and panoramic view over a large area of the Waldviertel.
  • Return bus ride to Armschlag. Arrival approx. 2 pm.

 

Total duration: approx. 5-6 hours

Fitness required for walking the specified distance and metres in altitude!

Registration and advance payment required at least 5 days to the date of the event by completing the registration form (as described below)!

When registering multiple participants, please specify the number of participants in the "Your text" field!

When booking the tour, please indicate definitely whether you would like the castle tour, as there is a separate tour. The castle tour starts with a minimum of 8 participants!

Price and payment for the hike: The price per person is calculated based on the total number of participants registered on the day of the event.

35 Euro per person (8–14 people) / 32 Euro per person (15–24 people) / 30 Euro per person (25 or more participants). Deposit of 20,- Euro per person required! Once the deposit has been received, the registration is complete and a confirmation will be emailed. Details regarding the deposit will be provided upon registration! The remaining amount must be paid in cash on site BEFORE the start of the event or transferred in advance!

Price for the bus trip from Armschlag to Rappottenstein Castle and from the Aubergwarte back to Armschlag: depending on the number of participants approx. 10,- -15,- Euro per person, to be paid separately to the bus driver. Information will be provided before the start of the bus trip in Armschlag!

Required equipment:

  • Trekking or hiking shoes
  • Clothing appropriate to the weather
  • Sun protection (head cover...) as required
  • Recommendation: bring your binoculars!
  • A stop for refreshments is planned after the return to Armschlag, so take a snack and drink with you for the hike (recommendation: at least 1 litre or as required)!
