Starting from the centre of Albrechtsberg and Albrechtsberg Castle, we begin by enjoying the view from the Church of Mariä Himmelfahrt over the valley of the Great Krems in the autumn look. We walk along the Lebensweg or Kremstalweg through the Kremstal valley with its rich vegetation and steep rock formations. The Wotansfelsen rock at the junction of the Kleine and Große Krems, the Gudenushöhle cave and Hartenstein Castle lie along our trail.

Programme:

• Starting point: at the car park in front of the largest poppy painting in Armschlag at 8:20 am.
• 8:30 am: Bus ride through the Waldviertel cultivated landscape to Albrechtsberg.
• Enjoy the view from the Church Mariä Himmelfahrt over the countryside and the Krems Valley. Guided tours of Albrechtsberg Castle and Hartenstein Castle towards the end of the tour are not possible!
• Hike into the valley and through the valley on the Lebensweg or Kremstalweg. Path: Field, forest or meadow paths as well as tarmac roads. It is necessary to wade through the Krems river once or twice at a shallow point and two more times if you wish to visit the Gudenus cave. Assistance is provided for each crossing. Information about the region is also provided during the hike.
• Return ride to Armschlag. Arrival approx. 1 pm.

Total duration: about 4.5 hours

Fitness required for walking the specified distance and metres in altitude!

Registration and advance payment required by Monday, 8 September 2025 via contact form, e-mail (willkommen@wanderbar-markus.at) or by telephone by stating the day of the event (Saturday, 13 September 2025), the number of participants and their names! If you have any questions, please also state your telephone number! Deposit of 20,- Euro per person required! Once the deposit has been received, the registration is complete and a confirmation will be emailed.

Price and payment for the hike: depending on the number of participants:

35,- Euro per person (8 - 14 persons) / 32,- Euro per person (15 - 24 persons) / 30,- Euro per person (from 25 participating persons). Deposit of 20,- Euro per person required (see registration)! Details of the deposit will be announced upon registration! The remaining amount must be paid in cash on site BEFORE the start of the event or transferred in advance!

Price for the bus ride from Armschlag to Albrechtsberg and back from the pick-up point: depending on the number of participants approx. 10,- -15,- Euro per person, to be paid separately to the bus driver. Information will be provided before the start of the bus trip in Armschlag!

Required equipment:

• Trekking or hiking shoes
• Clothing appropriate to the weather
• If necessary, separate shoes for crossing the Krems river in shallow places (stony ground).
• Sun protection (head cover...) as required
• A stop for refreshments is planned after the return to Armschlag, so take a snack and drink with you for the hike (recommendation: at least 1 litre or as required)!
