JUFA Hotel Hochkar: Elements of imparting knowledge about nature for pupils for the months of April, May, June, September and October 2026 and 2025

These offers are called elements. There are 5 different elements to choose from. They can be booked by school classes staying at the JUFA Hotel Hochkar in April, May, June, September and October 2026 and also for 2025 (May, June, September and October 2025).

(Note: If you are interested in one of these offers for children between the ages of 3 and 18 with other temporal and regional conditions simply write an enquiry via the contact form sheet!)

How to book an element: please select an element from the following list of descriptions and a bookable date from the Time schedule for the months of April, May, June, September and October 2026 and provide information from the following list preferably by contact form sheet (also available on that page) or by e-mail to willkommen@wanderbar-markus.at . If you wish to book for 2025, select your favourite day from the time schedule 2025 . The General Terms and Conditions (GTC) for imparting knowledge about nature apply!

  • desired date of the event
  • Select the desired time of your choice (3 options (see schedule): morning, afternoon or evening session) + desired start time. The final start time may be fixed in consultation with the contact person in order to coordinate the neighbouring booked events.
  • Your element (elements I - V, if available at the desired day)
  • (If applicable, further information on the element, see description of element IV). This may be finally fixed in discussion with the contact person.
  • Desired venue (partly selectable, see descriptions of elements). As the venue must be an appropriate location for the selected element and the nearest booked events must also be coordinated, the final location may be determined in consultation with the contact person.
  • Name of the school and the school class, approximate number and age of participating pupils
  • Name of a contact person (teacher) and contact details of this person (mandatory: telephone number and e-mail address). As the main contact person, this teacher has to have all information about the booked event and be available for questions and, if necessary, short-term arrangements regarding necessary changes.
  • Details of the payment details for the invoices (down payment, final invoice): Person/institution making payment, address.
  • To finalise the booking, a deposit of 150 Euro is required for each booked event, regardless of the element chosen! Details of the account and further information will be provided in an email confirming the receipt of the booking. The booking is completed and the desired time and date are noted as BOOKED upon receipt of the full deposit in this account, which will be confirmed with a second e-mail! It is recommended to transfer the deposit promptly (deadline: max. 1 week), as another booking on the same date with earlier deposit may be given priority. In that case, an e-mail would be sent informing you that the date has been booked by another person.

DESCRIPTIONS OF ELEMENTS

ELEMENT I – Die Suche! – The Quest!

Element I offers, led by a guide, games, tasks, chances to show your creativity and much more fun activities, which are related to each other and form a so-called ‘quest’. This content is embedded in a story, builds on each other as part of the quest, and there is a purpose at the end that is given or mentioned at the beginning. There are various quests with different backgrounds, some of which can be chosen by the pupils. The selection of possible stories depends on the age of the children or young people!

Examples of quests or stories that could apply, but there could also be completely different ones, are: ‘Stone Age’, fantastic worlds (e.g. ‘In Fairyland’, ‘On the Alien Planet’) or ‘The Improvisation Masters’ or other themes that may have local features (e.g. tales or nature creatures) and historical backgrounds woven into them (e.g. from Roman times)! Teamwork as well as heart and brain are required to complete all the tasks of a quest in small or larger teams and to reach the goal!

Examples of possilbe goals of quests:

‘Stone Age’ - Possible goal: start a fire (at an official fireplace)

‘In fairytale land’ - Possible goal: Find treasure

To achieve the goal, all sorts of other tasks, puzzles, games etc. have to be accomplished! We don't want to give too much away. Other quests will have different objectives. Contents are chosen according the age of pupils!

The design of the tasks often requires the use of individual skills, which will need to be combined in the team if a successful result is to be expected. Fun and excitement are involved as the tasks focus on agility, dexterity, stamina, strength, orientation, adventure, discovery, design and awareness. There may even be surprises from time to time! As a quest is a larger task, distances of up to 4 km have to be walked.

A quest can be designed to be more or less physically challenging. More challenging can mean crossing a shallow stream, carrying someone else alone or together with others, walking a short distance over a slackline or balancing on it, walking uphill and carrying something together... so it is not too challenging either. As these are often team tasks, not every person will encounter a challenging task. However, they can still occur from time to time.

Focus is on play, fun and excitement and safety is at high priority. Scratches, slips, stumbles etc. nevertheless might happen and getting dirty and getting your feet wet is also possible! The leader of the quest will adjust the physical and mental challenge factor to the group. If you are seriously concerned about the skill level of your group despite these circumstances, or if you think they are capable of much more anyway, you may choose element IV, the element for adjusting content to the abilities of the group. This not only allows you to change the ratio of content (taken from nature education or not), but also the proportion of physical and mental requirements.

Content of a quest is mostly from nature education. Choose IMPARTING KNOWLEDGE ABOUT NATURE if you want to know more about what is meant by that. In addition, tasks that have little or nothing to do with nature education may be set. Ratio is approx. 75:25, i.e. the majority of them are related to nature education, as the event is only held outdoors. A quest is therefore not a programme for indoor areas!

Possible venues for element I, a quest are located in the vicinity of the JUFA Hotel. The meeting point is in the hotel at the reception and can be agreed at a point nearby (short walk). All this information will be provided in advance.

The Quest - fun and excitement!

Duration of a quest: approx. 3 hours (could be a little more or less). Time starts at the agreed starting time, e.g. at 8.30 am on site at the agreed meeting point. Depending on the agreed location, please allow at least 15 minutes for the group to gather and, if necessary, for the walk etc. (take packed lunches if necessary)! Delays will not be made up for.

Price: 30,- Euro per person (except a teacher, if he/she is included).

Services included: If necessary, coordination with the contact person (teacher) throughout the organisation and running of the event.

Services not included in the price: Costs for any meals in between, other fees outside the included services.

Equipment for Element I - Die Suche! - The Quest!

  • Clothing according to the weather!
  • Shoes (sandals or similar) that in the worst case may get wet if there is a task involving water.
  • Snack and drink as required! There are numerous opportunities to eat and drink during the event!

 

Element I - Die Suche! - The Quest! is led by WANDERBAR Markus Leonhartsberger and in some cases by a second person. Participation of teachers is therefore not necessary. If the participation of a teacher is desired by the teacher him/herself, this may be possible by arrangement. It is possible that the Quest leader wants a teacher to take part. However, the teacher acts as an accompanying person in the background, which is communicated to the pupils. WANDERBAR Markus Leonhartsberger is solely responsible in leading the Quest.

ELEMENT II - The adventurers!

Select Element II - The Adventurers! if you want the content to focus mainly on movement, dexterity, some effort in terms of strength or endurance, but also on feeling and mindfulness. It offers games and tasks in these disciplines for pupils and is led by a guide. All this is embedded in a story, but - in contrast to Element I - Die Suche! - The Quest - have no context and no goal, except one: to have fun and learn something at the process. Element II has different backgrounds, some of which may be chosen by the pupils. To understand what is meant by background, scenario or story in which Element II - The Adventurers! could take place, please read through the examples in the first paragraphs in the description of Element I - The Quest. ELEMENT III - It is fun!

Focus of element III - This is fun! is on games and tasks that are fun. Content is centred more on light movement and dexterity and a little less effort, and when it is, it's about having fun. There may be something to do in exploring, creating and being mindful. As in element II, element III - This is fun! is embedded in a background story that can sometimes be chosen by the pupils. To understand what is meant by background, scenario or story in which element III - This is fun! could take place, please read through the examples in the first paragraphs in the description of element I - The Quest. However, as in element II - The Adventurers!, games and tasks are not linked to each other (they just take place in a specified story) and there is no goal as in element I, except one: to have fun and learn something at the same time.

Wähle IMPARTING KNOWLEDGE ABOUT NATURE aus, wenn du genauer wissen willst, was damit gemeint sein kann. ELEMENT IV - The element to customise!

Modul IV – Das Wunschmodul! ist geeignet, wenn dir bereits eines der anderen Module I – III oder V gefällt, du aber ein paar Anpassungen am jeweiligen Modul vornehmen möchtest, damit die Inhalte noch passender für die Schulklasse gestaltet werden.

Basically two settings may be changed:

Ratio of content:

Entweder stammen diese aus dem Bereich der Naturvermittlung oder nicht aus dem Bereich der Naturvermittlung! Das Verhältnis der Anteile ist in jedem der Module I – III und V beschrieben und du kannst es verändern. Bedenke dabei, dass keine x-beliebigen Werte gewählt werden können, denn jedes Modul hat eine Grundausrichtung und du kannst diese nur zum Teil beeinflussen. Modul I – Die Suche! – The Quest wird immer einen hohen Anteil an Inhalten aus der Naturvermittlung haben und du kannst nur wenig daran schrauben. Bei den Modulen II und III kannst du mehr daran ändern.

Entweder mehr oder weniger anstrengend, fordernd oder mit Abenteuercharakter versehen, das ist einstellbar. Beachte bitte, dass jedes Modul I – III und V eine Grundausrichtung in dieser Sparte hat. Modul II – Die Abenteurer! hat generell einen höheren Anteil daran als Modul III – Das macht Spaß!. Das Wunschmodul ist dazu gedacht, mäßige Änderungen in diesem Bereich zu machen. Bevor du also Modul II – Die Abenteurer! stark „entschärfen“ möchtest, wähle lieber Modul III – Das macht Spaß!, denn dieses hat grundsätzlich einen geringeren Anteil davon.

ELEMENT V - Games during dusk and in darkness!

Modul V – Spiele bei Dämmerung und Dunkelheit! beinhaltet genau das, was die Bezeichnung bereits mitteilt. Achtsamkeits- und Wahrnehmungsspiele und Aufgaben mit dem selben Fokus bestimmen den Inhalt. Zusätzlich sind Spiele mit Licht (Taschenlampe, Stirnlampe) im Team oder als Einzelaufgabe Teil der Veranstaltung. Spaß und Spannung sind vorprogrammiert und auch der Gänsehautfaktor kann in Spielen dabei sein. Spiele bei Dämmerung und Dunkelheit! können nur für Abendtermine gebucht werden!

Diese Veranstaltung ist wie alle anderen Module mit einem Hintergrund ausgestattet, der von der Klasse gewählt bzw. mitbestimmt werden kann. Zum Verständnis, was mit Hintergrund, Szenario bzw. Geschichte gemeint ist, in dem sich Modul V abspielen könnte, bitte die Beispiele davon in den ersten Absätzen unter der Beschreibung von Modul I – Die Suche – The Quest durchlesen. Die Spiele und Aufgaben stehen, wie bei Modul II und III, auch in Modul V in keinem Zusammenhang und es gibt kein Ziel wie in Modul I, außer Spaß zu haben und nebenbei auch was zu lernen.

Der größere Teil wird von Aufgaben abgedeckt, die wenig oder nichts mit der Naturvermittlung zu tun haben, Das Verhältnis beträgt also ca. 40:60. Mit Modul IV kannst du Modul V in Sachen „mehr Naturvermittlung“ aufpeppen, wenn du willst – oder die körperlichen Anforderungen erhöhen.

Venue of element V: Modul V wird nur an einem einzigen Platz durchgeführt, im Umfeld des JUFA Hotels Hochkar (rund um das Hotel auf freien Flächen bzw. ggf. auf freien Flächen in der Umgebung).

Dauer von Modul V – Games at dusk and darkness! : approx. 1.5-2 hours. Time starts at the arranged starting time, e.g. at 7.30 pm in front of the hotel. Delays will not be made up for.

Price: 20,- Euro per person (except one teacher, if he/she is included).

Services included: If necessary, coordination with the contact person (teacher) throughout the organisation and leading the event.

Services not included in the price: Costs for any meals in between, other fees outside the included services.

Bad weather, what to do now?

What is meant to be bad weather?

Bad weather means e.g. heavy, continuous rain, strong winds, while taking into account the weather forecast for the following hours.

What's not bad weather?

Cloudy skies, humid or rain-soaked meadows and forest ground in the morning or evening or after rain, light spray or light rain, periods of light rain and intervals of rain, moderate wind without rain. All these conditions do not mean bad weather, although the weather forecast for the following hours must be taken into account.

Options in case of bad weather: 

Normally, all elements I - V take place outdoors. In case of bad weather or a high probability of bad weather (if in doubt, arrangement is required!) all elements will take place indoors at the JUFA Hotel Hochkar and changes will be made depending on the element booked.

Element I - Die Suche! - The quest! booked? Alternatively, one of the elements (II, III, IV or V) may be selected and time ( normally approx. 3 hours) is shortened. Elements II and III: approx. 2.5 hours at a price of 25 euros per person. Element V approx. 1.5 - 2 hours at 20 euros per person. This means that it is no longer a quest, as it would be impossible to carry it out indoors.

Element II - The adventurers! booked? An indoor programme of the same length is provided at the same price as the outdoor programme (approx. 2.5 hours for 25 Euro per person).

Element III - It is fun! booked? An indoor programme of the same length is provided at the same price as the outdoor programme (approx. 2.5 hours for 25 Euro per person).

Element IV - The element to customise! booked? Depending on the selection of the basic element, the alternative one described here is carried out at the stated alternative price.

Element V - Games at dusk and in the dark! booked? An indoor programme of the same length is provided at the same price as the outdoor programme (approx. 1.5 - 2 hours for 20 Euro per person).

The meeting point is always at the reception of the JUFA Hotel at the booked starting time. Delays will not be made up for.
